About Us

Ascog Wool is reared and sheared from Shetland, Hebridean, Lleyn-Cheviot, Herdwick and Texel sheep grazed at Ascog Farm on the Isle of Bute, Scotland.

Each year our flock of over 150 sheep is shorn and the wool processed to create natural undyed yarn. Colours vary between the lighter off-whites, greys and browns of the Shetlands to the dark black of the Hebrideans.

Some of the yarn is woven on restored shuttle looms dating from the 1870s to make cloth or blankets whilst the remaining yarn is used to make a range of hand-knitted products, some of which you can now purchase from our online shop.
